Hunstrete House

If you want to soak up the cosy atmosphere of the English country, Hunstrete House is the place to be. Hunstrete House is not like a hotel at all, it is more like an exquisite manor house with a drawing room, a library and a dining room furnished with beautiful antiques, paintings and china collections.

The warm family atmosphere is particularly enjoyable when, in winter, after a day's walking in the countryside or a visit to nearby historic cities like Bristol, Wells or the Roman spa of Bath, you sit warming yourself at one of the open fireplaces.

The Waldegrave Arms

This typical English village pub is set in the corner of the village of Chewton Mendip in the lovely countryside of the Mendip Hills. It is named after the Waldegrave family, who still live in the village and run their large farming estate nearby.

The Waldegrave provides Bed & Breakfast rooms, coupled with good home-cooked food in the lounge-restaurant. Real ale is served in the bar and all is at reasonable cost.

Many local attractions are nearby such as the village church with its tower and bells and Waldegrave Estate cheese dairy where you can watch the making of traditional Farmhouse Cheddar cheese.
Cheddar and Wookey Hole Caves and the beautiful city of Wells with its cathedral and medieval street are all within half an hour's journey and most importantly just 10 minutes from the Shooting Ground.
